Description:

Kraków, one of the most beautiful showpieces of Central Europe, is the city of majestic architectural monuments, cobbled thoroughfares, cultural treasures, timeless courtyards, priceless artworks and legendary beer cellars and gardens. The city has been included to the first ever UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978, along with the nearby Wieliczka Salt Mine and only ten other places in the world.
Kraków’s centre can be divided into two main sections – the Old Town and Kazimierz (the former Jewish Quarter), with the Wawel Royal Castle towering between them. These three areas are requisite for anyone visiting the city.
The trip will start from the ICE Congress Centre and lead through the Wawel Hill, the Skałka monastery to the Jewish Quarter of Kraków. Monuments will be admired only from the outside. The sightseeing will finalise in the ‘Stara Zajezdnia Kraków by DeSilva’ Restaurant, located in the heart of Kazimierz District, to start the conference dinner.
The Skałka Church, small church perceived as one of the most important sanctuaries in Kraków, was built on solitary lime rock, hence contemporary name - Church on the Rock (in Polish 'Skałka'). The church is connected to the monastery of the Pauline Order. Near Skałka, you can admire a well-preserved 14th century defensive wall of the old town of Kazimierz, made of broken lime stone.
The historic Jewish Quarter of Kraków - Kazimierz, set within walking distance of the Old Town, was once a separate city in its own right. Today, it’s totally subsumed into the fabric of the town. Numerous cosy art cafes, galleries and antique shops, paved street and monuments of Jewish culture draw tourists with a magnetic force.
The square at the heart of Kazimierz – Plac Wolnica, is dominated by a Town Hall from the 15th century, housing the Ethnographic Museum. Nearby, you can find a gothic church of Corpus Christi and synagogues: The Old Synagogue (the oldest synagogue in Poland), currently operating as a museum, the Remuh Synagogue, still active as a place of worship and the Remuh cementary, the High Synagogue, Wolf Popper Synagogue, Izaak Synagogue, the New Synagogue and the Tempel Synagogue.
Today Kazimierz is the second most favourite destination of tourists visiting Kraków.
