The President of the National Statistics Institute of Spain (INE) is the legal representative of the Institute. He is responsible for ensuring the compliance with the National Statistical Plan and the proper functioning of all the units of the INE. He is also Director of the Electoral Census Office, Member of the Central Electoral Board, Chairman of the Municipal Registration Council, Vice-Chairman of the High Council on Statistics, Chairman of the Inter-ministerial Statistics Commission, Chairman of the Inter-territorial Statistics Committee, Chair of the Board of Directors of INE and Director of the official scientific journal ” Spanish Statistics”. PhD in Applied Economics from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid. Degree in Economics and Business Studies from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (1987-1992).
